Minutes of the Economic Development Commission <br />City of Mounds View <br />Ramsey County, Minnesota <br />Regular Meeting <br />November 17, 1994 <br />City Hall <br />2401 Highway 10, Mounds View, MN 55112 <br />Call to Order: <br />The meeting was called to order at 6:02 p.m. by Chairperson, Delane Welsch. Commissioner Nelson <br />volunteered to take the minutes for the meeting. <br />2. Roll Call: <br />Members present were as follows: Rosemary Goff, Dan Nelson, Delane Welsch, Mark Malone, Ron <br />Schmidt and Phil Seipp. In addition, Economic Development Coordinator Cathy Bennett was present. <br />Member Peg Mountin and EDA Liaison Gary Quick were not present. <br />Approval Of Minutes: <br />The following amendments were made to the October 27, 1994 minutes: <br />4. Special Business: Change motion from Pegg to Mountin. <br />5.C. EDC Business: line 3, "signage as a development issue should addressed" <br />Motion/Second: <br />October 27, 1994 as <br />amended. <br />Motion Carried <br />4. Special Business <br />Goff/Nelson moved approval of Minutes of EDC Meeting, <br />6 ayes0 nays <br />A. Presentation Reqardinq Process for Hotel Development in Vadnais Heights <br />Gerry Urban, City Administrator of Vadnais Heights, gave an overview on the 5 year process <br />the City of Vadnais Heights and the Economic Development Corporation have been through <br />to attract a hotel project. Mr. Urban stressed community and business involvement in the <br />process and suggested evaluating the need for a hotel by surveying the surrounding area <br />businesses. A two phase feasibility study was done for the project at a cost of approximately <br />$5,000 per phase. The City's EDA has committed TIF for the project and has purchased the <br />property. <br />Motion/Second: Seipp/Nelson moved to direct staff to draft questions and research the cost to <br />survey area businesses on the need for a hotel/conference center in Mounds View. <br />6 ayes 0 nays <br />Motion Carried. <br />
