Metro East Development Partnership Membership: Backman distributed a handout regarding <br />recent changes with this organization. The City of Mounds View will likely not be renewing <br />membership. <br /> <br />B. Loads of Clothes—Silver View Plaza: Janet Schellsmidt and Michele Rosenbaum, the two <br />principals, have been moving forward with their Laundromat business. Loads of Clothes will be <br />located on the west end of Silver View Plaza. (42 washers & 49 dryers) SBA & Ramsey County <br />have approved financing for the business. Last Friday, November 15th, they signed the lease for <br />the space, and this week the contractor submitted plans to the City. Damont is the general <br />contractor. Their goal is to be operational in Mounds View by February 15, 2003. <br /> <br />C. United Properties—Printing Prospect: Rob Kost from United Properties continues to interact with <br />the printing company from Roseville. The prospect remains interested in relocating to M.V. <br />Backman could not confirm if an offer has been made on the property behind Walgreen’s. He did <br />have a different property owner along Hwy 10 call Mr. Kost and discuss a different location. <br />(The owner prefers to own his building.) <br /> <br />D. Welsh Companies—Amoco Site Prospect: During the first of week of November Backman was <br />informed by Tony Strauss, the broker representing the old Amoco site, that there was a potential <br />buyer for the property. Mr. Strauss indicated that a developer representing a client that is a <br />national retailer is considering Mounds View and would need approx. 10,000 to 12,000 sq. ft. of <br />space. The broker asked if the Silverview Terrace garages could be moved and we indicated <br />that the owner was amenable to that. Backman forwarded information that had been assembled <br />for the Triple A application to Strauss, who forwarded it on to the developer/client last week. On <br />Monday (11/18) of this week Backman talked with Strauss again. He indicated the info was well- <br />received. The developer mentioned that they may look at redeveloping the Amoco site or the <br />whole area fronting County Highway 10. <br /> <br />E. Colliers Towle—Prospective Laport Meadows Residential Development: Since September Jim <br />Ericson has been interacting with Duane Poppe from Colliers Towle regarding a residential <br />development that would occur within the Laport Meadows area. Several preliminary site plans <br />have been provided to the City regarding the proposed development, which may be set up as a <br />PUD. On November 15th, Ericson and Backman met with Duane Poppe and Steve Fisher from <br />Colliers Towle, and Lonnie Kornovich, a general contractor, to discuss various issues related to <br />the development. <br /> <br />F. Other: Following the EDC meeting members will be going to 5230 Quincy St. for a tour of <br />Blooming Prairie Natural Foods <br /> <br /> <br />8. ADJOURNMENT <br /> <br />There being no further business before the Commission, Chair Belting adjourned the November 20th <br />meeting of the Economic Development Commission at 8:27 a.m. <br />
