City of Mounds View <br />County of Ramsey <br />OFFICE OF THE MAYOR <br />Proclamation <br />Making the City of Mounds View a Heart Safe Community -- August, 2016 <br /> <br />Whereas, the Mounds View Police Department consists of trained First Responders who provide <br />emergency assistance in times of medical emergencies including Sudden Cardiac Arrest; and <br />Whereas, the Mounds View Police Department is equipped, willing and able to coordinate the resources <br />and education efforts of the Heart Safe Community Program; and <br />Whereas, providing education, CPR and AED training, and sharing information on the placement of <br />AED’s in the community increases the survival of Sudden Cardiac Arrest; and <br />Whereas, the goal of the City of Mounds View is to improve the chances that anyone suffering a Sudden <br />Cardiac Arrest will have the best possible chance for survival; and <br />Whereas, bystander CPR and access to an AED is a vital piece of the Chain of Survival for victims of <br />Sudden Cardiac Arrest; and <br />Whereas, the Heart Safe Community Program increases the chances a victim will have the opportunity to <br />receive bystander CPR in our community. <br />Now therefore, be it resolved, that the Mounds View City Council formally designates August <br />20, 2016, as the launch of the initiative for the City of Mounds View to become a Heart Safe <br />Community. <br /> <br />Given under my hand and Seal of the City of Mounds View, this 8th day of August, 2016. <br /> <br /> <br />Joe Flaherty, Mayor <br />(seal)
