RESOLUTION NO. 8887 <br />CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW <br />COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br />RESOLUTION APPROVING DIFFERENTIAL PAY FOR SARAH DAVID AND DRAFT <br />OF NEW POLICY ON DIFFERENTIAL PAY <br />WHEREAS, Sarah David is a Patrol Officer for the City of Mounds View; and <br />WHEREAS, Sarah David also serves in the Minnesota National Guard; and <br />WHEREAS, Officer David has notified Chief Harder that she has received <br />deployment orders commencing January 16, 2018 until approximately May 15, 2018; and <br />WHEREAS, state law requires employers to grant members of our military service <br />leave with guaranteed employment upon return; and <br />WHEREAS, state law is permissive with respect to employers providing "differential <br />pay" which is defined as the difference in the military wage/rate of pay and the employer <br />wage/rate of pay; and <br />WHEREAS, the Human Resource Committee is recommending that the City provide <br />Differential Pay to Office David for this deployment and to develop a policy to address <br />military deployments for employees. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mounds View City Council <br />approves differential pay for Patrol Officer David for this specific deployment and that staff <br />shall prepare a draft policy to address military deployment compensation. <br />Adopted this 8th day of January, 2018. <br />Carol A.
