Attached is Resolution 8070, which authorizes severance payment to Sergeant Robert Nelson in accordance with the LELS (Sergeants) Union Contract. Discussion Resolution 8070 provides for a payout of Sergeant Nelson's sick time into his Retirement Health Savings Plan. In accordance the LELS (Sergeants) Union Contract, Sergeant Nelson is authorized a sick time payout totaling $42,547.06 to his Retirement Health Savings Plan. This is calculated as 1,679.25 accrued/banked sick hours times 65% times his hourly rate of $38.98. Resolution 8070 also provides for a payout of Sergeant Nelson's vacation time into his Retirement Health Savings Plan. In accordance with the LELS (Sergeants) Union Contract, Sergeant Nelson is authorized a vacation time payout totaling $4,996.46 to his Retirement Health Savings Plan. This is calculated as 128.18 accrued/unused vacation hours times his hourly rate of $38.98. In addition, Resolution 8070 provides a payout of Sergeant Nelson's compensatory time into his Retirement Health Savings Plan. In accordance with the LELS (Sergeants) Union Contract, Sergeant Nelson is authorized a compensatory time payout totaling $1,437.58 to his Retirement Health Savings Plan. This is calculated as 36.88 hours times his hourly rate of $38.98. Recommendation Staff recommends severance payment for Sergeant Robert Nelson in the amount not to exceed $48,981.10 into his Retirement Health Savings Plan.
