*****PROPOSED***** <br />CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW <br />POSITION DESCRIPTION <br />Position Title: <br />Seasonal Maintenance Worker <br />Department: <br />Public Works — Operation and Maintenance (O&M) Division <br />Accountable to: <br />Director of Public Works <br />FLSA Status: <br />Non -Exempt, Temporary/Seasonal <br />PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION <br />To provide support and assist full-time maintenance workers in their duties and responsibilities by <br />performing a variety of semi -skilled and general maintenance work activities for municipal <br />infrastructure and equipment associated with drinking water supply, treatment, storage, and <br />distribution system; wastewater collection system; stormwater conveyance, ponds, and treatment <br />systems; streets, trails, and right-of-way; parks and recreation facilities; and buildings and grounds. <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED <br />Supervised by and works under the general guidance and direction of the Public Works Supervisor. <br />Regularly receive secondary in -field supervision by full-time Maintenance Workers on work crew. <br />SUPERVISION EXERCISED <br />No direct supervision is exercised by this position. <br />ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES <br />All subdivisions: <br />Provide support and assist full-time maintenance employees in completion of their duties and <br />responsibilities by participating in various maintenance and repair work tasks. Participate on an <br />assigned work crew and assist other maintenance subdivisions as directed. <br />Operate a variety of tools and light equipment including hand tools, power tools, push and riding <br />lawn mowers, and utility carts. Drive pickup trucks and small equipment to job sites and during <br />performance of work activities. Clean and keep in good working order all tools, equipment, and <br />vehicles used. <br />When assigned to the Parks and Facilities (Parks) subdivisions: <br />• Perform and participate in turf maintenance and landscape duties in parklands and grounds <br />including mowing and edging lawns and athletic fields, rough cutting, pulling weeds, raking, <br />seeding and sodding, mulching, watering plants and trees, sweeping, removing litter, trimming <br />trees and shrubs, and clearing fallen trees, brush, leaves, and debris. <br />• Perform and participate in park and recreation facilities maintenance duties including grooming <br />(dragging) baseball and softball fields, chalking and painting athletic field lines, cleaning and <br />repairing playground equipment, installing and repairing tennis court and soccer nets, adjusting <br />irrigation system, and painting and repairing hockey rink boards. <br />• Perform janitorial and light building maintenance duties in park buildings and shelters including <br />cleaning and sanitizing restrooms, stocking supplies, picking up litter, emptying trash containers, <br />painting, washing windows, and cleaning outdoor furniture. <br />• Assist in the installation of trees, shrubs, perennials, annuals, and native grasses.
