*****PROPOSED***** <br />Skill in: <br />• Performing entry-level maintenance activities. <br />Ability to: <br />• Work independently or on a team and complete daily work tasks and multi -day projects <br />assignments while meeting a work schedule. <br />• Perform difficult manual labor tasks including lifting heavy objects, stooping, bending, and twisting; <br />including performing work tasks for extended periods of time and in adverse weather conditions. <br />• Learn how to perform general and semi -skilled tasks in a variety of construction, maintenance, <br />repair, and inspection activities; learn how to operate tools and equipment in a safe and effective <br />manner. <br />• Understand and follow oral and written instructions. <br />• Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of <br />work, including co-workers, other departments, other agencies, vendors, and the public. <br />• Communicate effectively, in English, both verbally and in writing. <br />TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED <br />• A variety of hand tools including shovels, rakes, hoes, lutes, brooms and brushes, compactors, <br />loppers, hand and pole pruners and saws, post drivers, and hammers. <br />• Various power tools and light equipment including push lawn mowers, weed whips, blowers, hedge <br />trimmer, brush cutter, sod cutter, hedge trimmer, roto -tiller, jack hammer, auger, chalking and <br />striping machine, drills, sanders, and saws. <br />• Vehicles and other equipment including pickup trucks, riding mowers, utility and golf carts, <br />compactor, and painting machine as required by maintenance subdivision. <br />PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT <br />The physical demands and work environment characteristics described herein are representative of <br />those physical demands that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential <br />functions of this job and those work environment characteristics an employee encounters while <br />performing the essential functions of this job. The employee is <br />frequently required to stand, talk, and hear and regularly reach with hands and arms, walk, sit, climb, <br />balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and have a sense of smell. The employee must frequently lift <br />and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision <br />abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral visions, depth <br />perception, and the ability to adjust focus. <br />While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in outside weather conditions <br />that vary from hot to cold and dry to humid. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical <br />parts and equipment and is exposed to vibration. The employee may occasionally work in high, <br />precarious places and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
