To Waive the Reading and Resolution 8083, Appointing the <br />2012 Mounds View Citizen of the Year. <br />Acting Mayor Mueller was pleased with the nominations for 2012 and congratulated Dr. Belting <br />on his contributions to the community. <br />Ayes — 4 Nays — 0 Motion carried. <br />B. Resolution 8082, Adopting a Calendar for the Preparation of the 2014 <br />Budget. <br />Finance Director Beer requested the Council adopt a calendar for preparation of the 2014 budget <br />as was required within the City's Charter. He noted that June 3rd would begin the budgeting <br />process, with the preliminary budget and levy adopted on August 26th. Utility rates would be <br />adopted for 2014 on November 11`11. He explained the Truth and Taxation Hearing was <br />scheduled for November 25t11 and the 2014 budget would be adopted on December 9t11. Staff <br />recommended the Council adopt the calendar as presented. <br />MOTION/SECOND: Hull/Meehlhause. To Waive the Reading and Adopt Resolution 8082, <br />Adopting a Calendar for the Preparation of the 2014 Budget. <br />Ayes — 4 Nays — 0 Motion carried. <br />C. Resolution 8086, Appointing Richard Daher to the Park, Recreation and <br />Forestry Commission. <br />27 City Administrator Ericson indicated in January the Council amended the City Code to expand <br />28 the membership of the Park, Recreation and Forestry Commission from seven members to nine. <br />29 He stated this expansion allowed for an open seat and Staff was recommending the appointment <br />30 of Richard Daher to the Parks, Recreation and Forestry Commission. Staff recommended the <br />31 term for Mr. Daher expire at the end of 2013 to allow for the seats to remain evenly staggered. <br />32 <br />33 Council Member Meehlhause noted he met Richard Daher last fall while campaigning. Mr. <br />34 Daher expressed an interested in becoming more involved in the community. At that time, <br />35 Council Member Meelrlhause recormnended Mr. Daher consider serving on a Commission. He <br />36 requested the Council support the appointment. <br />37 <br />38 MOTION/SECOND: Meehlhause/Hull. To Waive the Reading and Adopt Resolution 8086, <br />39 Appointing Richard Daher to the Park, Recreation and Forestry Commission. <br />40 <br />41 Acting Mayor Mueller thanked Council Member Meehlhause for reaching out to Mr. Daher and <br />42 for encouraging him to serve the community in this capacity. <br />43 <br />44 Ayes — 4 Nays — 0 Motion carried. <br />45 <br />
