Mounds View City Council June 10, 2013 <br />Regular Meeting Page 3 <br />1 Mayor Flaherty questioned the height of the existing sign. Finance Director Beer indicated the <br />2 current sign was 12 feet 8 inches. <br />3 <br />4 City Administrator Ericson comrnented the Council could delay action on this item to a future <br />5 work session meeting as this would allow for further discussion on the design and height of the <br />6 message sign. <br />7 <br />8 Council Member Gunn was pleased with the sign design submitted by Sign Crafters. <br />9 <br />to Council Member Mueller asked if the visual display would be double sided. Economic <br />11 Development Specialist Steinmetz stated this was the case, and noted the message board would <br />12 be approximately 12-18 inches thick. <br />13 <br />14 Council Member Mueller recommended the Council proceed with the Sign Crafters design. <br />15 <br />16 Mayor Flaherty was in favor of holding off until more information was available. <br />17 <br />18 Council Member Mueller questioned how the sign would be funded. Finance Director Beer <br />19 noted the expense was budgeted as a special project and funds were available within the budget. <br />20 <br />21 MOTION/SECOND: Flaherty/Meehlhause. To postpone action on this Item to the June 24, <br />22 2013 Council Meeting directing Staff to request additional sign design renderings from Sign <br />23 Crafters. <br />24 <br />25 Ayes — 5 Nays — 0 Motion carried. <br />26 <br />27 C. Resolution 8111, Authorizing Advertisement of the Nuisance Code/Housing <br />28 Inspector Position. <br />29 <br />30 City Administrator Ericson indicated Fire Marshal-Housing/Code Enforcement Inspector <br />31 Anderson has submitted his letter of resignation. He requested the Council allow the City to <br />32 advertise for this position. He explained the Fire Marshal component would be left off of the job <br />33 description. <br />34 <br />35 Council Member Meehlhause asked how much time Mr. Anderson spent on fire inspections. <br />36 City Administrator Ericson estimated less than 10% of his time was spent on fire inspections. <br />37 <br />38 Council Member Meehlhause questioned how other cities handled their fire inspections. City <br />39 Administrator Ericson explained a Fire Marshal was not necessary, but greatly increased the <br />40 safety of the community. <br />41 <br />42 Council Member Meehlhause inquired who would be training Mr. Anderson's replacement.
