Item No: 9.D. <br />MOUNDS Meeting <br />VI <br />Meeting Date: October 9, 2017 <br />�( Type of Business: Council Business <br />— - Administrator review: <br />City of Mounds View Staff Report <br />To: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From: Nyle Zikmund, Interim City Administrator <br />Item Title/Subject: Resolution 8840, Approving the Hiring of Consultant to <br />Conduct Compensation Study <br />Background <br />With the recent completion of the three collective bargaining unit's compensation study it <br />was determined by council to ensure the 22 non-union staff member's wages remained <br />competitive via a similar study. Former Administrator Ericson prepared and distributed a <br />request for proposal to six consultants who specialize in this field. Staff received <br />proposals from three; David Drown, Springsted, and Bjorklund. Estimates ranged from <br />$6,340 to $12,900. <br />Discussion <br />Two of the three proposals were within percentage points of each other on cost and all <br />provided sufficient evidence of abilities and meeting performance requirements. A <br />component of the project was pointing the HR position previously approved. Director <br />Beer and I met to discuss and determine the best fit for this project. <br />Recommendation <br />Staff recommends approval of Resolution 8840 authorizing hiring of Bjorklund <br />Compensation Consulting, LLC. to conduct a compensation study, point the HR System <br />and two public works supervisory positions at a cost not to exceed $7,000. <br />Respectfully submitted, <br />JeriNZhikm nd <br />m ity Administrator <br />
