Item No: 6.G. <br />MOUNDS = �/ Tt� Meeting Date: October 9, 2017 <br />Type of Business: Council Consent <br />Administrator review: <br />City of Mounds View Staff Report <br />To: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From: Nyle Zikmund, Interim City Administrator <br />Item Title/Subject: Resolution 8842, Updated Public Works Supervisor Job <br />Description <br />Background <br />At the October 2, 2017 City Council Workshop the Council discussed staffing issues <br />within the Public Works Division. That discussion included a reorganization plan as well <br />as review of requirements for the Public Works Director position and a consensus to <br />update the position description to reflect the councils consensus. This action item along <br />with Council direction results in modest changes to the Public Works Supervisor Position. <br />Discussion <br />As part of the effort to reorganize the Public Works Department all job duties for all <br />positions as well as the job title are being reviewed. In reviewing the Public Works <br />Supervisor Position it was determined that while seemingly incidental, the title of <br />Superintendent is more consistent with industry terminology and standards. This change <br />is reflected in the updated job description along with non -substantive job duties as <br />detailed and highlighted in the attached revision. <br />Recommendation <br />Staff recommends approval of Resolution 8842 which reflects council direction work on <br />reorganization of the division. Approval of this update is linked to the Public Works <br />Director Update in that it will allow staff necessary latitude in the hiring process following <br />the Public Works Director process.
