Notwithstanding the provisions of subdivision 6 of this Section (1008.10, <br />subdivision 6), no more than one (1) pole or pylon sign shall be allowed per lot. <br />However, the ground sign area allowance may be divided between one (1) pole or <br />pylon sign and a monument sign or between multiple monument signs, subject to <br />the requirements herein, provided that one (1) or more of the following conditions <br />are applicable: (Ord. 679, 5-29-01; Ord. 769, 5-8-06; Ord. 816, 1-22-09) <br />(1) The lot abuts multiple street right-of-ways, in which case a sign may be <br />located along each frontage. (Ord. 679, 5-29-01) <br />(2) There are multiple curb cuts or driveways accessing the property, in <br />which case a sign may be located near each access point or driveway, <br />provided the signs are separated by no less than two hundred feet (200'). <br />(Ord. 679, 5-29-01) <br />(3) The width of the lot, as measured along its longest street frontage, <br />exceeds two hundred and fifty feet (250'), in which case multiple signs may <br />be located along the long frontage provided such signs are separated by no <br />less than two hundred feet (200'). (Ord. 679, 5-29-01) <br />(4) The property or properties are within an approved Planned Unit <br />Development (PUD). (Ord. 679, 5-29-01) <br />Q. Ground signs must include masonry construction materials such as stone, brick <br />or stucco. <br />SECTION 3. The City Council of the City of Mounds View hereby amends Chapter <br />1008.13 of the Mounds View City Code pertaining to Nonconforming Signs by deleting <br />the stricken language and adding the underlined text as follows: <br />1008.13 NONCONFORMING SIGNS: It is the intent of the City with this Chapter that <br />nonconforming signs shall not be enlarged or expanded, nor should a person use this <br />Chapter as grounds for adding other signs or uses prohibited elsewhere in the same <br />district. It is further the intent of the City with this Chapter to permit legal nonconforming <br />signs to remain if such signs are safe, maintained in good condition and if such signs have <br />not been abandoned, moved or removed. Any sign, including a billboard, legally existing <br />at the time of the passage of this Ordinance that does not conform to the provisions of this <br />ordinance shall be considered a legal nonconforming sign and may be continued including <br />through repair, replacement of graphics panels, restoration, maintenance, or improvement <br />but not including the moving, enlargement or expansion of the sign. "Expansion" shall be <br />defined as any structural alteration, change or addition that is made outside of the original <br />sign structure or design.
