Mounds View City Council November 13, 2017 <br />Regular Meeting Page 4 <br />1 the understanding was that the County was to work with its cities to find solutions, while still <br />2 maintaining proper safety regulations. <br />3 <br />4 Council Member Meehlhause stated the City was frustrated by the fact its businesses have had <br />5 access to Mounds View Boulevard for years and through redevelopment projects access was now <br />6 not allowed. Commissioner McGuire discussed how the County was working with the City to <br />7 strike a balance between access and safety. <br />8 <br />9 Council Member Gunn requested further information on Rice Creek Commons. Commissioner <br />10 McGuire stated agreements are being worked on between the County and the City with the <br />11 Master Developer. She explained the property was being marketed at this time and the County <br />12 believed this was a very attractive property. She stated there has been challenges regarding the <br />13 proposed density within the development. <br />14 <br />15 Council Member Gunn asked when County Road I would be open. Commissioner McGuire <br />16 reported County Road I would be open in the next week or two. Further discussion ensued <br />17 regarding road construction that would be occurring in and around Mounds View. She thanked <br />18 Council Member Gunn for her service on the I -35W Coalition. <br />19 <br />20 Council Member Meehlhause questioned if a solar garden was still being considered for Rice <br />21 Creek Commons. Commissioner McGuire believed the solar garden would be installed on the <br />22 north end of County Road I. <br />23 <br />24 Council Member Meehlhause inquired where Heather Worthington had moved. Commissioner <br />25 McGuire explained Ms. Worthington had taken a position with the City of Minneapolis. She <br />26 then described how the department of Economic Development had been restructured after Ms. <br />27 Worthington's departure and noted two individuals would be hired to fill her position. <br />28 <br />29 Mayor Mueller stated the public safety message came through loud and clear in the meetings she <br />30 attended with the County. She explained the data presented did not show a concern for the <br />31 Mounds View Boulevard corridor with how access points were aligned. She indicated she was <br />32 grateful the City's representatives had been working behind the scenes to assist with further local <br />33 economic development while still taking into consideration public safety. She appreciated the <br />34 fact the traffic lights along the Mounds View Boulevard corridor had been synchronized and <br />35 recommended the speed limit for the corridor not be increased. She suggested signs be posted <br />36 noting the proper speed for the corridor. <br />37 <br />38 Council Member Bergeron agreed stating he did not want to see the speed along the Mounds <br />39 View Boulevard corridor increased knowing full well traffic was already moving faster than the <br />40 posted speed limit. <br />41 <br />42 Commissioner McGuire thanked the City Council for all of their work in the community on <br />43 behalf of the residents in Mounds View. <br />44 <br />45 9.
