MOUNDS VIEW <br />Item No: 09E <br />Meeting Date: November 27, 2017 <br />Type of Business: Council Business <br />Administrator Review: ,�--_�-i3 <br />City of Mounds View Staff Report <br />To: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From: Jon Sevald, City Planner/Supervisor <br />Item Title/Subject: Resolution 8859, Approving the hire of Nicholas Henly as <br />Building Official <br />Introduction: <br />Due to the resignation of Building Official Steve Thorp, the City has contracted with <br />Rum River Construction Services to serve in the interim, September thru December, <br />2017. Staff advertised the Building Official position, receiving seven applications, and <br />interviewing three candidates on November 9, 2017. <br />Staff is recommending the appointment of Nicholas (Nick) Henly to the position of <br />Building Official, conditioned upon satisfactory background checks and a hiring <br />assessment. The recommended pay level (2018) is Step 2; $35.45 p/hr, $73,736 <br />p/year). His planned start date is January 2, 2018. Nick is currently the Building Official <br />for the City of Isanti. <br />Staff additionally recommends that this position be changed from Non -Exempt (hourly) <br />to Exempt status. <br />Recommendation: <br />Staff recommends approval of Resolution 8859, appointing Nicholas Henly to the <br />position of Building Official at 2018 Pay Step 2, conditioned upon satisfactory <br />background checks and hiring assessment. <br />Respectfully submitted, <br />460., 9�x <br />Jon Sevald, AICP <br />City Planner/Supervisor <br />ATTACHED <br />1.
