RESOLUTION 8189 <br />CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW <br />COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br />APPROVING A POSITION DESCRIPTION AND AUTHORIZING ADVERTISEMENT FOR <br />HIRING A MAINTENANCE WORKER IN THE PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT <br />WHEREAS, the recent retirement of the Parks Supervisor has provided an opportunity <br />to restructure staffing for the Public Works Department to better address deficiencies in <br />personnel and to increase the effectiveness in providing the many essential services devolved <br />upon the Department; and <br />WHEREAS, staff recommends the addition of a Maintenance Worker to perform parks <br />maintenance duties which were previously supplemented by the eliminated Parks Supervisor <br />position and a previously eliminated full-time seasonal maintenance worker; and <br />WHEREAS, five separate position descriptions and titles currently exist for maintenance <br />workers that are inconsistent and do not accurately depict shared duties required for the <br />maintenance workers; and <br />WHEREAS, a single "Maintenance Worker" position description that incorporates the <br />shared responsibilities and requirements of the other five position descriptions and details the <br />core duties for the specific maintenance area (subdivision) that maintenance workers are <br />appointed is proposed to replace the five maintenance worker position descriptions. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Mounds View, <br />Ramsey County, Minnesota as follows: <br />1. The addition of a "Maintenance Worker" position to perform park maintenance duties in the <br />Maintenance Division of the Public Works Department is hereby approved. This position will <br />be a full-time, non-exempt FSLA position and a member of the Public Works Collective <br />Bargaining Unit. <br />The attached "Maintenance Worker" position description is hereby approved and replaces <br />the "Maintenance Worker (Drinking Water)", "Public Works Maintenance Worker (Sanitary <br />Sewer)", "Maintenance Worker (Stormwater)", "Public Works Maintenance -Streets', and <br />"Parks Maintenance Worker" position descriptions and titles. <br />3. The Director of Public Works is authorized to appoint "Maintenance Worker' positions to a <br />subdivision of the Public Works Maintenance Division. <br />4. Staff is authorized to post internally within Public Works Maintenance Division the added <br />Maintenance Worker position in accordance with the current Public Works Collective <br />Bargaining Unit agreement. <br />5.
