Inspect facilities to identify building maintenance needs. Assist and participate in facility <br />improvements and alterations. <br />Perform light electrical and telecommunication repair and installation. Test and maintain <br />emergency lighting, security cameras, and security alarm systems. <br />OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES <br />• Keep maintenance facility and work areas in a safe, clean, and organized condition. <br />• Attend and participate in internal and external safety and certification training. <br />• Assist with responding to citizen requests and complaints, including investigating various matters. <br />• Oversee the work of seasonal maintenance workers while leading a work crew when assigned by <br />the Public Works Supervisor and provide on-the-job training in completion of work duties. <br />• Perform other duties and responsibilities as apparent or assigned by the Public Works Supervisor. <br />MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS` <br />Education: <br />• High School Diploma or GED. <br />• Satisfactory completion of a post secondary program of courses in water or wastewater <br />technology at an accredited institution is desirable (one-year credit given towards experience). <br />Experience: <br />• One year experience in general, skilled, or semi -skilled labor performing maintenance, repair, <br />construction, or other similar job-related tasks on municipal infrastructure or operating motorized <br />equipment for these activities. Two years or more experience is desirable. <br />Licenses and Certificates: <br />• Possession of a valid Minnesota Class B commercial driver's license with air brake endorsement; <br />obtain tanker endorsement within 6 months of employment. <br />• Possession of a Water Supply System Operator Class D certificate issued by Minnesota <br />Department of Health or obtain within 18 months of employment. Maintenance Workers assigned <br />to the Drinking Water subdivision require a Class D certificate at time of employment and are <br />required obtain a Class B certificate within 5 years of employment. <br />• Possession of a Wastewater Operator Class S -D certificate issued by Minnesota Pollution Control <br />Agency or obtain within 18 months of employment. Maintenance Workers assigned to the <br />Wastewater subdivision require a Class S -D certificate at the time of employment and must obtain <br />a Class S -C certificate within 3 years of employment. <br />• Maintenance Workers assigned to the Streets and Parks subdivisions must obtain a Non - <br />Commercial Pesticide Applicator License issued by Minnesota Department of Agriculture within 18 <br />months of employment. <br />• Maintenance Workers assigned to the Stormwater subdivision must obtain an Erosion and <br />Sediment Control Construction Installer Certificate issued by the University of Minnesota <br />Department of Bioproducts and Biosystems Engineering within 18 months of employment. <br />• Maintenance Workers assigned to the Facilities subdivision must obtain a Boiler Operator License <br />issued by Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry within 18 months of employment. <br />*" see Collective Bargaining Unit Labor Agreement for job classification system and minimum <br />advancement qualifications. <br />Position Description I Maintenance Worker Page 4/6 <br />
