improve the functioning of the Public Works Department to provide better <br />maintenance and service. <br />Follows departmental safety regulations and operating procedures that are in <br />compliance with applicable Minnesota Occupations Safety and Health Laws and <br />regulations. Also recognizes potential hazards in the work environment and <br />notifies Public Works Director for corrective action. <br />Purchases operational supplies with responsibility and in accordance with City <br />Purchasing Policy. <br />Maintains or repairs equipment as apparent or assigned, within knowledgeable <br />limits to ensure vehicles and equipment are in good repair and appearance. <br />Maintains knowledge of safe handling and application of chemicals used in <br />departmental programs. <br />Maintains knowledge of and performs activities related to turf maintenance <br />including, but not limited to, mowing, seeding, aerating, spraying, and irrigation <br />systems. <br />Performs sign maintenance, installation, and the placement of traffic control <br />devices in accordance with local, state, and federal laws. <br />Performs manual labor including, but not limited to, lifting, painting, tree trimming, <br />planting, and removal, the use of hand tools, compacting materials with hand or <br />mechanical equipment. <br />Keeps City facilities and equipment in a neat and clean order. <br />Keeps accurate records of time sheets, job activity sheets, fuel log sheets, <br />vehicle and equipment maintenance reports, and other related or required data. <br />Responds to citizen requests and complaints in a manner consistent with City <br />policies and regulations and promotes and maintains a favorable image of the <br />City through positive community relations. <br />General Knowledge of all Public Work departments as necessary to perform "On <br />Call" duties. <br />Oversees work of Seasonal Employee as directed by the Public Works <br />Supervisor. <br />Follows departmental safety regulations and operating procedures that are in <br />compliance with applicable Minnesota Occupational Safety and Health Laws and <br />regulations. Also recognizes potential hazards in the work environment and <br />notifies Pubic Works Supervisor for corrective action. <br />PERIPHERAL DUTIES <br />Works with other City employees in a cooperative manner to maintain a team <br />effort and also can work efficiently alone. <br />Maintains ability and knowledge to assist in training of other employees. <br />Performs related duties and apparent or delegated to ensure the successful <br />operation of the Public Works Department. <br />Serves on various employee or other committees as assigned. <br />MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS <br />(A) Graduation from a high school or GED equivalent. <br />
