MOUNislVtE—W <br />of Mounds View Staff R <br />Item No: 9H <br />Meeting Date: December 11, 2017 <br />Type of Business: Council Business <br />Administrator Review: <br />To: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From: Nyle Zikmund, Interim City Administrator <br />Item Title/Subject: Resolution 8869, Setting and Approving the 2018 City Council <br />Meeting Dates, Council/Staff Retreat, and the Town Hall Meeting <br />DISCUSSION <br />Based on the Council's historical schedule of conducting work sessions for the first Monday of <br />each month and regular Council meeting on the second and fourth Mondays of each Month <br />please see attached proposed list of meeting dates for 2018 (Exhibit A). <br />The following legal holidays fall on dates that would otherwise be considered meeting dates: <br />January 1 st (New Year's Day), May 28th (Memorial Day), Council Meeting and September 6th <br />(Labor Day), Work Session). Staff is proposing Tuesday, January 2nd for the Work Session, <br />Tuesday, May 29th for the Council Meeting and Tuesday, September 7th for the work session. <br />Based on council direction, there will also be a special council meeting on January 2, 2018 prior <br />to the work session for the purpose of appointments and naming permanent City Administrator <br />and any other business the council deems appropriate for the special meeting. <br />Per council direction a council/staff retreat has been scheduled for Monday January 29, 2018 <br />with tentative start time of 6:00 PM. Council has had limited discussion regarding additional <br />retreats which can be discussed as part of the January 29, 2018 retreat. Historically, the council <br />has met in November to review current council goals/priorities and establish subsequent council <br />goals/priorities. <br />With regard to the town hall meeting, Staff recommends scheduling the meeting for either April <br />30 or May 1 or 2 (Tuesday, Wednesday). Scheduling the town meeting on either date will allow <br />enough time for Staff to prepare a presentation from the decisions made during the retreat. The <br />town hall meeting will be located at Mounds View City Hall starting at 6:00 p.m. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Please advise Staff as to which dates you desire for the town hall meeting. Staff will add the <br />dates to Exhibit A of Resolution 8869 following the meeting.
