Item No: 091 <br />MOUNDitsvMV <br />Meeting Date: December 11, 2017 <br />Type of Business: Council Business <br />Administrator Review: <br />/ <br />hol N <br />City of Mounds View Staff Report , <br />To: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From: Nyle Zikmund, Interim City Administrator <br />Item Title/Subject: Resolution 8868, Approving Appointments to the City of Mounds <br />View's Boards, Commissions, and Committees <br />INTRODUCTION <br />The Economic Development Commission; Parks, Recreation and Forestry Commission; and <br />Planning Commission, have term seats that will expire on December 31, 2017. The following <br />appointments are recommended by Staff: <br />DISCUSSION <br />Economic Development Commission: (Two Seats Open) <br />Staff has received two (2) appointment applications: Dennis Farmer and Ken Breske. Mr. <br />Farmer currently serves on the EDC. His seat will expire December 31, 2017. Mr. Breske is a <br />new applicant. The EDC recommends reappointing Dennis Farmer and newly appointing Ken <br />Breske to the Economic Development Commission. <br />Parks, Recreation and Forestry Commission: (Two Seats Open) <br />Staff has received two (2) appointment applications: Gerald Arel (Seat Al) and Dale Aukee <br />(Seat A2). Both applicants currently serve on the Commission and their seats will expire <br />December 31, 2017. The Parks, Recreation and Forestry Commission recommends <br />reappointing Gerald Arel and Dale Aukee to the Parks, Recreations and Forestry Commission. <br />Planning Commission: (Three Seats Open) <br />Staff has received four (4) applications: Gary Stevenson, Justin Klander, Dennis Farmer, and <br />Dan Larson. Both Mr. Stevenson and Mr. Klander currently serve on the Planning Commission. <br />Mr. Farmer and Mr. Larson are new applicants to the Planning Commission. Both serve on the <br />EDC. The Planning Commission recommends reappointing Gary Stevenson and Justin Klander <br />(the open seat held by Julianne Love was not discussed, assuming Commissioner Love would <br />re -apply). <br />STAFF RECOMMENDATION <br />Attached are all submitted applications. It is recommended that the City Council consider these <br />applicants and approve appointments as noted above. The Council must select three of the four <br />applicants for Planning Commission.
