Item No: 9E <br />MOUNDS <br />VEW <br />�Meeting Date: Dec 11, 2017 <br />Type of Business: Council Business <br />Administrator Review; <br />City of Mounds View Staff Report <br />6 <br />To: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From: Jon Sevald, City Planner/Supervisor <br />Item Title/Subject: Resolution 8877, Appointment of Comprehensive Plan Taskforce <br />Introduction: <br />The Comprehensive Plan is a 20 -year guide for land use and development. Mounds View is <br />required to submit a Plan update to the Metropolitan Council by December 31, 2018, following <br />certain criteria. During the June 6, 2016 Council Work Session, the Council consented to the <br />creation of a nine -member taskforce, representing the City Council (1) , Economic Development <br />Commission (2), Planning Commission (2), Parks Commission (2), and at -large residents (2). <br />Discussion: <br />During the Council's December 4, 2017 Work Session, multiple Councilmembers expressed an <br />interest in serving on the Taskforce. The Council consented to a name being drawn out of a hat. <br />This Councilmember will serve as Chair of the Taskforce. <br />The applicable commissions recommended the following members be appointed to the <br />Taskforce: <br />Economic Development Commission: Teresa Muckala Dennis Farmer <br />Parks, Recreation and Forestry Commission: John Kroeger Gary Rundle <br />Planning Commission: Justin Klander Angelica Klebsch <br />Staff has collected suggested names for the At -Large representatives from Council and <br />Commission members, and from Staff, in addition to advertising in the spring 2017 Mounds View <br />Matters. Those residents were asked to complete and submit an application form by December <br />4, 2017. The Council is requested to choose two representatives from the following: <br />Daniel Larson <br />Branton Smith <br />William Urbanski <br />M. Joan (Josey) Warren <br />Marcie Weinandt <br />Finally, the Taskforce is intended to meet twice per month, January thru May/June, 2018, on an <br />as needed basis. <br />During the City Council's December 4, 2017 Work Session, the Council was asked if these <br />meetings should be televised. If yes, there are restrictions as to the evenings available (1St 2nd <br />& 41h Tuesdays, and V Thursdays). If no, the Taskforce will set their own meeting dates based <br />on availability. The Council asked Staff to consider if there is time capacity (Staff time) to <br />televise these meetings, which there is. Staff is recommending these meetings be televised, <br />and conducted on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of the month (as needed). <br />
