Mounds View City Council December 11, 2017 <br />Regular Meeting Page 12 <br />1 and Data Acquisition) Computer Program. <br />2 <br />3 Public Works Director Peterson requested the Council approve upgrades to the City's SCADA <br />4 computer program. He explained how this program was used to monitor the City's water system <br />5 and lift stations. He indicated the software was updated in 1998 and was upgraded in 2007 and <br />6 2016. Staff reviewed the expense for the upgrades and recommended approval. <br />7 <br />8 Council Member Meehlhause asked if the proposed upgrades would be installed in 2017. Public <br />9 Works Director Peterson reported the upgrades would be partially installed in 2017 and the <br />10 remainder would be completed once the Public Works Facility was complete. <br />11 <br />12 Council Member Bergeron stated he fully supported this project as he wanted the City's water <br />13 system protected for Mounds View's residents and businesses. <br />14 <br />15 MOTION/SECOND: Hull/Bergeron. To Waive the Reading and Adopt Resolution 8866, <br />16 Approving Upgrading the SCADA (Supervisory, Control, and Data Acquisition) Computer <br />17 Program. <br />18 <br />19 Ayes — 5 Nays — 0 Motion carried. <br />20 <br />21 L. Resolution 8867, Approving Changes to the GIS Technician and Engineering <br />22 Technician Positions and Authorization for Pointing of the Descriptions. <br />23 <br />24 Public Works Director Peterson requested the Council approve changes to the GIS Technician <br />25 and Engineering Technician positions and authorize pointing of the descriptions. He discussed <br />26 the changes made to the job descriptions and reviewed the proposed hiring timeline. <br />27 <br />28 Mayor Mueller asked where these positions would be advertised. Public Works Director <br />29 Peterson reported the positions would be posted on the City's website, with the League of <br />30 Minnesota Cities and the APWA publication. <br />31 <br />32 MOTION/SECOND: Meehlhause/Gunn. To Waive the Reading and Adopt Resolution 8867, <br />33 Approving Changes to the GIS Technician and Engineering Technician Positions and <br />34 Authorization for Pointing of the Descriptions. <br />35 <br />36 Mayor Mueller thanked the HR Committee, Interim City Administrator Zikmund and Public <br />37 Works Director Peterson for their work on the updated job descriptions. She thanked the <br />38 existing Staff members within City Hall and the Public Works Department that have stepped up <br />39 to carry more of the load after several Staff members have retired of moved onto new positions <br />40 outside of the City of Mounds View. <br />41 <br />42 Ayes — 5 Nays — 0 Motion carried. <br />43 <br />44 10.
