MOvrmS VfE-W
City of Mounds View Staff Report
Item No: 9C
Meeting Date: January 8, 2018
Type of Business: Council Business
Administrator Review
To: Honorable Mayor and City Council
From: Nyle Zikmund, Interim City Administrator
Item Title/Subject: Resolution 8890, Approving one-time additional 4 hours of
comp/flex time for Full Time Employees
Introduction:
2017 was a challenging year for the staff employed by the City of Mounds View. Due to a
number of varying situations that coincidentally occurred, retirements, relocations, job
advancements, etc.; all departments were required to pick up additional duties in order to
ensure services provided were delivered.
Discussion:
At their December 4, 2017 Council meeting, the Mayor and several council members
expressed their appreciation to staff for their "rising" to the occasion to fill in while the
process to replace colleagues who had left occurred.
All divisions; Public Works, Community Development, Administration, Police and Finance
were impacted either directly or indirectly by the challenges and all met those challenges
with enthusiasm, professionalism and dedication to service.
At their December 28th meeting, the Human Resources Committee met and discussed a
more formal recognition of staff and is recommending that all Full Time employees who
worked at least 9 months in calendar year 2017 be awarded an additional four hours of
comp/flex time to be used in the first six months of calendar year 2018 — with their
supervisor approval specific to when they can utilize this time.
J,
Nyle Zikmund
City Administrator
