Resolution 8918 Continued RESOLUTION 8918 CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW COUNTY OF RAMSEY STATE OF MINNESOTA APPROVING THE PURCHASE OF A USED FORK LIFT FOR THE PUBLIC WORKS FACILITY WHEREAS, during the design phase of the Public Works Facility (City Project No. 2017 -CO2) an allowance of $50,000 for the purchase and installation of an overhead crane system; and, WHEREAS, due to unforeseen problems and costs associated with contaminated soils from an old waste oil tank and hydraulic hoist leak, during the construction of the facility, those funds were used to offset the costs associated with these corrections; and, WHEREAS, Public Works Staff recognized that there was a need for a fork lift truck to raise items to the mezzanines; and, WHEREAS, Public Works Staff discussed the need for this purchase with City Administrator Zikmund and Finance Director Beer; and, WHEREAS, Staff received estimates for used fork lifts with a range of cost from $13,000 to $18,000. Staff continued searching and was able to locate a used fork lift on the State of MN Surplus on line auction. WHEREAS, Staff discussed the possibility to submit a bid with City Administrator Zikmund and City Attorney Riggs. The recommendation was to proceed with submitting a bid and have the City Council approve the purchase at the next regular Council Meeting, if the City was the high bid; and, WHEREAS, The City of Mounds View was not the high bid and received a quote for a reconditioned fork lift from Toyota -Lift of Minnesota from Brooklyn Park MN for a cost of $12,400. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Mounds View, Ramsey County, Minnesota as follows:
