MOUN_OJSVIEW <br />City of Mounds View Staff R <br />Item No: 05C <br />Meeting Date: Apr 9, 2018 <br />Type of Business: Consent <br />Administrator Review: .' <br />To: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From: Jon Sevald, City Planner/Supervisor <br />Item Title/Subject: Resolution 8942, Requesting an Extension to Complete the <br />Comprehensive Plan - <br />Discussion: <br />The Comprehensive Plan is a 20 -year plan for land use and related topics, required by <br />Minnesota Statute to be updated every ten years. The Draft Plan is to be submitted to <br />neighboring jurisdictions for a six-month review period (e.g. June 29, 2018), prior to the City <br />Council submitting the final plan to the Metropolitan Council by December 31, 2018 for their <br />review. <br />Due to time constraints of Staff, Staff is requesting the City Council's consent to requesting a <br />one-year extension from the Metropolitan Council (December 31, 2019). This extension will <br />allow Staff time to work on current projects, and to continue to work on the Comprehensive <br />Plan as time allows. <br />In order for an extension to be granted, the Metropolitan Council requires a formal request <br />accompanied by a resolution. Resolution 8942 is based on an example resolution provided by <br />the Metropolitan Council, using language in Minnesota Statutes. <br />Recommendation: <br />Staff recommends approval of Resolution 8942, requesting additional time within which to <br />complete the Comprehensive Plan. <br />ATTACHMENTS <br />1. 2040 Comp Plan Extension Request <br />2.
