Mounds View City Council May 29, 2018 <br />Regular Meeting Page 8 <br />1 Council Member Gunn stated this was the way the City has completed many of its sidewalk and <br />2 trail segments along County Roads. She indicated this has saved the City a great deal of money <br />3 noting the County has paid for the initial installation of these trail segments. <br />4 <br />5 MOTION/SECOND: Gunn/Meehlhause. To Waive the Reading and Adopt Resolution 8975, <br />6 Approving Future Maintenance of New Trail on Long Lake Road in Coordination of Road <br />7 Improvements by Ramsey County. <br />8 <br />9 Ayes — 4 Nays — 0 Abstain — 1 (Bergeron) Motion carried. <br />10 <br />11 Mayor Mueller requested the Police Department have increased police patrols along the detour <br />12 routes. <br />13 <br />14 9. REPORTS <br />15 A. Reports of Mayor and Council. <br />16 <br />17 Council Member Gunn reported she attended the graduation ceremony for Police Officer <br />18 Schultes and K-9 Grizz. She thanked the Mounds View Police Foundation for assisting the City <br />19 with the funding of this new K-9 officer. <br />20 <br />21 Council Member Gunn noted she would not be able to attend the Monday, July 2nd worksession <br />22 meeting. <br />23 <br />24 B. Reports of Staff. <br />25 <br />26 City Administrator Zikmund noted he met with the watershed district for an hour and a half <br />27 today. He explained the information gathered at this meeting would be forwarded to the Council <br />28 in an upcoming report. <br />29 <br />30 City Administrator Zikmund indicated he received a complaint from a resident regarding the <br />31 speed of traffic along Spring Lake Road and H2. He explained this resident has requested stop <br />32 signs and noted this item would be addressed by the Council at a future worksession meeting. <br />33 <br />34 Mayor Mueller asked if the portable speed bumps were an option to assist with reducing speed in <br />35 the area. City Administrator Zikmund commented the City received a great deal of complaints <br />36 regarding the portable speed bumps due to the noise they generate. <br />37 <br />38 Mayor Mueller suggested the City consider placing a flashing sign along this roadway. City <br />39 Administrator Zikmund discussed the expense for this type of sign but noted a grant may be <br />40 available to assist the City. Police Chief Harder reported the Police Department has had a radar <br />41 trailer along this roadway and noted it has not assisted in reducing the speed of traffic and <br />42 commented it was difficult to find a proper location for the trailer. He noted he has spoken to the <br />43 owner of Cummins Corporation stating this assisted in reducing speed for a short time. <br />44 <br />
