Mounds View City Council February 22, 2016 <br />Regular Meeting Page 5 <br /> <br />Council’s desire to participate in this program. 1 <br /> 2 <br /> Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 Motion carried. 3 <br /> 4 <br />E. Resolution 8528, Authorizing Expenditure of Funds for Consultant Services 5 <br />Associated with the Police Chief Recruitment Process. 6 <br /> 7 <br />City Administrator Ericson stated at the February 8th City Council meeting, the Council approved 8 <br />a revised Police Chief job description and authorized the advertisement for this position. He 9 <br />explained this position has been posted in the Star Tribune, along with numerous websites. He 10 <br />reported the City was receiving responses for the position. He discussed the hiring process with 11 <br />the Council and requested approval of expenditures for consultant services associated with the 12 <br />Police Chief recruitment process Phase I and Phase II for an amount not to exceed $11,500. 13 <br /> 14 <br />Mayor Flaherty questioned how the City would fund this expense. City Administrator Ericson 15 <br />reported this matter would come out of the General Fund. 16 <br /> 17 <br />Council Member Gunn asked if any of the City’s current Police Officers would be applying for 18 <br />the Chief position. City Administrator Ericson stated based on the previous discussions, staff 19 <br />would be encouraging existing qualified officers to apply for the position, but the intent would be 20 <br />to consider these candidates along with all others that apply as part of the City doing its due 21 <br />diligence. 22 <br /> 23 <br />MOTION/SECOND: Mueller/Hull. To Waive the Reading and Adopt Resolution 8528, 24 <br />Authorizing Expenditure of Funds for Consultant Services Associated with the Police Chief 25 <br />Recruitment Process. 26 <br /> 27 <br />Mayor Flaherty supported the proposed hiring process and hoped that police officers from within 28 <br />the organization would apply for the position. 29 <br /> 30 <br /> Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 Motion carried. 31 <br /> 32 <br />8. CONSENT AGENDA 33 <br /> 34 <br />None. 35 <br /> 36 <br />9. JUST AND CORRECT CLAIMS 37 <br /> 38 <br />Finance Director Beer answered the Council's questions related to claims. 39 <br /> 40 <br />MOTION/SECOND: Mueller/Gunn. To Approve the Just and Correct Claims as presented. 41 <br /> 42 <br /> Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 Motion carried. 43
