Item No. 07E <br />Meeting Date: April 25, 2016 <br />Type of Business: Council Business <br />City Administrator Review: ______ <br /> <br />City of Mounds View Staff Report <br />To: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From: Brian Erickson, P.E., Director of Public Works/City Engineer <br />Item Title/Subject: Resolution 8561, Approve Consultant to Perform Design <br />Services Related to the Public Works Facility <br /> <br />Introduction <br />At the March 14, 2016 meeting the City Council approved the Public Works Facility <br />design services request for proposals (RFP). Additionally, City Council approved the <br />advertisement of the RFP. During the meeting, Council requested staff make minor <br />changes, and these were incorporated prior to staff forwarding the RFP to selected <br />consultants. <br /> <br />Discussion <br />Staff forwarded the RFP to the following five consultants: <br />• Oertel Architects <br />• Stantec Consulting <br />• Short Elliot and Hendrickson (SEH) <br />• I & S Group <br />• Wendel Architects <br /> <br />Of the five firms contacted, the city received two proposals, Oertel Architects and I & S <br />Group. The three remaining firms declined to provide a submittal due to their existing <br />project work load. <br /> <br />Three staff members (including the City Engineer) then reviewed these proposals based <br />on the following weighted criteria: <br />• Project Understanding (20%) <br />• Experience (20%) <br />• Work Plan (20%) <br />• Qualifications (20%) <br />• References (10%) <br />• Cost (10%) <br /> <br />As a result of the review, staff recommends that Oertel Architects be awarded the <br />design services contract.
