Mounds View City Council March 14, 2016 <br />Regular Meeting Page 2 <br /> <br />other teams. She was proud to report Irondale placed second at this regional event and qualified 1 <br />for championships. 2 <br /> 3 <br />Ms. Agular explained her team was working to raise $5,000 to assist with paying the entry fee to 4 <br />the National Championship. She encouraged the public to attend the upcoming comedy show 5 <br />fundraiser. She stated tickets for the event were $10. 6 <br /> 7 <br />Mayor Flaherty questioned where the team found parts for their robot. Ms. Agular commented at 8 <br />first the team had to find their own parts, but now the team was able to find sponsors and 9 <br />purchase parts. She reported her team was sponsored by Medtronic, the Groves Foundation, 10 <br />Pentair, Best Buy, and Federal Premium. 11 <br /> 12 <br />Council Member Mueller understood the team name was Night Crawlers. She asked if Mounds 13 <br />View residents could make donations to the robotics team. Ms. Agular commented donations for 14 <br />the robotics team could be sent to the Irondale High School. 15 <br /> 16 <br />Council Member Gunn encouraged the City Council to attend the upcoming robotics competition 17 <br />at Williams Arena. 18 <br /> 19 <br />Mayor Flaherty questioned who the team’s mentors were. Ms. Agular reported the robotics team 20 <br />had 15 official mentors. She introduced the Council to the mentors that were in attendance. 21 <br /> 22 <br />Mayor Flaherty thanked the robotics team coming to the City Council meeting and for 23 <br />demonstrating their robot. He wished them well at their upcoming competitions. A round of 24 <br />applause was offered by all in attendance. 25 <br /> 26 <br />7. COUNCIL BUSINESS 27 <br /> 28 <br />A. 7:00 p.m. Public Hearing: Resolution 8535, a Resolution to Consider a 29 <br />Residential Kennel License for Maggie Alt of 2295 Pinewood Drive. 30 <br /> 31 <br />Assistant City Administrator Crane stated Maggie Alt lives at 2295 Pinewood Drive and was 32 <br />requesting a Residential Kennel License for her three dogs. All dogs were current on their rabies 33 <br />shots and were licensed with the City of Mounds View. Staff has received no animal complaints 34 <br />for this property and recommended approval of the request. She reported the proposed license 35 <br />would expire on June 30, 2016. 36 <br /> 37 <br />Mayor Flaherty opened the public hearing at 7:15 p.m. 38 <br /> 39 <br />Ron O’Connell, 2296 Terrace Drive, stated he has gone through this before in his neighborhood. 40 <br />He did not believe it would work to have three dogs at this property. He explained the previous 41 <br />dogs barked all the time and have tried to bust through the fence. He feared that the enjoyment 42 <br />of his backyard would be lost if the license were approved. 43 <br /> 44 <br />Mayor Flaherty explained Ms. Alt has only recently moved into the home at 2295 Pinewood 45
