CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW,
MINNESOTA
GOAL-SETTING SESSION
FOLLOW-UP MEETING
April 20, 1999
INTRODUCTION
On April 20, 1999, the Mounds View City Council and Management Team defined
preliminary Goals and Management Action Plans(MAPs)to support the visions developed
during a workshop conducted in March. The items listed below represent the preliminary
Goals statements and Management Action Plans(MAPs)for the City and Council of Mounds
View.
II. PROPOSED GOALS AND MANAGEMENT ACTION PLANS (MAPs)
Attachment A to this report contains an overview of a strategic leadership and goal-setting
process that form the basis for constructing the visions at the March workshop and the
proposed Goals at the April 20, 1999,workshop.
A. Proposed Goals.
The following proposed goals were put forth by the Council and Management Team
members in attendance. These goals represent statements of proposed leadership
direction and priority that will guide Council decision making, staff performance, and
budget allocations for the City of Mounds View. Once the goal statements were
proposed, the participants were asked to select in a"forced choice"nominal group
exercise, those goals which were seen as High-Priority Goals for the City. The
goals listed below with an asterisk next to the number are those that were identified
by the Council members in attendance as having,or likely to obtain, majority support
from Council members as High-Priority Goals for the City and Council. The
number of Council members in attendance (3) and Staff members in attendance
supporting the goal as a possible High-Priority Goal is indicated in parenthesis after
the proposed goal statement.
1.* Facilitate community/citizen groups for purposes of disseminating
information and garnering input prior to official Council action. (Council
Members -2; Staff Members -4)
2. Have Council/Staff commit to a long-term vision and revisit that vision on
1
