Item No.
Staff Report No.
Meeting Date: April 26, 1999
Type of Business: C.B.
WK: Work Session;PH:Public Hearing;
CA: Consent Agenda;CB:Council Business
City of Mounds View Staff Report
To: Honorable Mayor and City Council
From: Michael Ulrich, Director of Public Works
Item Title/Subject: Consideration of Antenna Proposal
Date of Report: April 21, 1999
Staff has received a request from Johnson Radio Communication Co., Inc. to install a repeater
antenna on the City's water tower. While this is an opportunity to generate additional income for
future tower maintenance needs, staff is unsure of the appropriate rental rate for this use. Staff
has contacted a couple of cities with similar installations to inquire their rental rate. Johnson
Radio is proposing an amount of$189.00 rent payment plus $20.00 for electricity. The vendor
would be responsible for all associated expenses related to the installation, ie. engineering
review, electrical installation,painting, etc.
Staff requests Council authorization to further negotiate with Johnson Radio in regards to the
rent rate and sign such agreement when a final amount is reached. Perhaps staff will have
additional information at the meeting.
6.Af-e (---• j
Mi hael Ulrich, Director of Public Works
