Work involves the implementation, <br /> coot ination and .izectiorolid waste management programs and <br /> activities within the city, including recycling, garbage and refuse, yard waste <br /> and hazardous waste. Responsibilities also include development, production any <br /> coordination of programs for the cable access channels, and development of the <br /> employee newsletter, area business newsletter and other communication pieces.'14 <br /> or is per ormed with considerable independence under the genera supero szon <br /> of the Assistant to the City Manager. <br /> Examples of Work <br /> Coordinates all ongoing solid waste management programs and activities within <br /> the city. <br /> Recruits and train volunteers involved in various programs and activities. <br /> Develops and administers a public relations and education program which <br /> promotes community understanding of, and participation in, solid waste management <br /> activities. <br /> Participates in the preparation of the annual refuse, recycling and cable <br /> budgets; operates such programs within established budget guidelines. <br /> Coordinates activities with other agencies or organizations within and/or <br /> outside the City who are involved with waste management programs and activities. <br /> Prepares grant applications for funding and/or requests for reimbursements <br /> through appropriate state, regional and local agencies. <br /> Establishes and maintains records and files relating to solid waste <br /> management and cable programming activities; compiles data and completes required <br /> reports. <br /> Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with property <br /> owners, residents and contractors. <br /> Administers refuse, recycling and yard waste city ordinances to ensure <br /> compliance. <br /> Creates weekly, biweekly and monthly programming for the government access <br /> channel. <br /> Develops cable programming concepts and assists city staff in developing, <br /> writing, and designing programs for viewing on the government access channel and <br /> for use by departments. <br /> Gathers, updates and maintains information for character generator. <br /> Maintains all equipment and facilities necessary to produce programming; <br /> oversees installation and maintenance and repair contracts with vendors. <br /> Maintains library of programs produced for the government access channel. <br /> Sets up equipment and video tapes all City Council meetings. <br /> Develops and disseminates employee newsletter, area business newsletter, and <br /> other communication pieces. <br />
