City of Mounds View Staff Report
August 5, 1999
Page 2
choice for the project that will support funding the construction. In the mean time the City is
accruing funds for the entire MSA system of which some segments may be constructed to the
standards. The City's annual maintenance allotment will also be increased for the additional
mileage received from the turn backs. The estimated increase in the City's construction allotment
is approximately $18,980.00, with an estimated increase of$5,700.00 for maintenance.
There is one other component of this complicated issue, the "Request for Certification". The
acceptance of MSA designation of SLR will undoubtably prolong the City's certification
process. It is staff's opinion that a few current MSA streets will also not meet standards.
Remembering that Co. I is currently on the system and the fact that it has just been reconstructed,
hopefully will that segment will not require any rehab in the near future, will also extend the time
period in which the certification could be obtained.
If Council has any questions that this report does not address, please contact me so that I will
have ample time to research them if necessary.
Michael Ulrich, Director of Public Works
RECOMMENDATION: Council adopt Resolution No. 5192, Revoking Municipal State Aid
Street.
