The contract is to provide design and <br /> construction services for 1B plus the waterproofing of the basement. BA Associates will be <br /> • providing consulting services for the waterproofing of the basement. Staff has requested that <br /> replacement of the ceiling tile also be included in the project. To staff's knowledge the current <br /> tile are the originals and were painted approximately five to seven years ago. The leaky roof has <br /> also stained several tiles throughout the building. Staff has also included replacement of the west <br /> door. The door is rusting, does not close properly and is extremely difficult to open in the <br /> summer when the door expands. The door has not been itemized in the estimate, the replacement <br /> costs can be taken from the projects contingency amount. Council may remove the tiles from the <br /> project if they wish. <br /> The total project is estimated to cost$315,000.00. Staff spoke with Finance Director Kessel <br /> regarding the possible funding sources for this project. Bruce indicated that this project should be <br /> probably be a General Fund expenditure. The General Fund Reserve Account has approximately <br /> $2.9 million, or the Special Projects fund with a balance of$1.6 million. Any reduction or <br /> expenditure from the Special Projects Fund will decrease the interest earnings, which are <br /> currently being utilized for the Pavement Management Program. <br /> • <br /> Staff requests Council approval and authorization to sign the contract and direction as to the <br /> funding source for the project. <br /> If Coun'il'h any questions or concerns regarding this project, please feel free to call me. <br /> Mic ael Ulrich, Director of Public Works <br /> RECOMMENDATION: Council approve the professional services contract with Wold <br /> Architects and Engineers for design and construction services for the City Hall HVAC, roofing, <br /> fire suppression, tuck pointing, waterproofing project, and related building repairs and to <br /> authorize Staff to sign the contract and authorize the Director of Public Works to sign all work <br /> orders up to 5% of the total project. <br />
