From: "BRUCE KESSEL" <MOUNDS_VIEW/BRUCEK>
To: MOUNDS_VIEW/CHUCKW
Date sent: Tue, 20 Jan 1998 15:40:17 +0000
Subject: Update on salary points & pay plan
I talked to Ann from Labor Relations today to find out the status of
the above which are:
1. Point values. The day after our last meeting with her, she sent
the information in to Hay for the golf course position but has not
received a reply from them. She anticipates receiving the
information with the next one to two weeks. We would then need to
notify all employees of the point values and they would have two
weeks to request a review of their points. After the two weeks, we
would need to evaluate any employee coments (another one to two
weeks). Total time frame five to six weeks.
2. Salary plan. After the point values are established, the market
study would be completed and a salary plan proposed. Estimated time
frame three to six weeks.
Other information:
I asked Ann her opinion relating to salary adjustments for 1998. She
indicated that she would not recommend trying to anticipate the
results of the pay plan. Ideally, she would recommend waiting to
adjust 1998 wages until after the Hay study and Salary Plan are
adopted (two to three months). If we were not comfortable with this,
she felt that it would be better to give all employees 3% or some
other amount and to wait to make additional ajustments until the Hay
Study and Salary Plan are completed. She did not think that we could
make any safe educated guesses as to what the Study and Pay Plan
results would be and as such, would not recommend attempting to do
so.
adjustments
