Whiting said it might be a better idea to revisit the <br /> receptionist positions, perhaps even look more closely at the CSO position and building <br /> maintenance position, and possibly use a small portion of the Contingency. The question will still <br /> come back down to the level of services that the City wants to provide for its residents, Whiting <br /> said. Stigney noted that the auditors had made the opinion that the City's reserve levels were low <br /> and they recommended increasing this balance. Kessel said the auditors said the City's reserves <br /> were adequate, "within an average range for most cities." <br /> It was the consensus of the Council that staff bring back to the City Council meeting of December <br /> 14, 1998, a recommendation for reduction of expenditures,or other options that would reduce the <br /> $24,789 deficit. <br /> Whiting said staff would also work on the severance packages for the workers who are being or <br /> will be displaced by the upcoming budgetary decisions, i.e., Community Center management and <br /> the outsourcing of building inspection. <br /> Mayor McCarty , again, opened the floor for public questions and/or comment. <br /> Not questions and/or comments were considered from the public. <br /> Mayor McCarty returned the floor to the Council. <br /> 4.
