INFORMATION <br /> Management Meeting Minutes ONLY <br /> Wednesday, May 13, 1998 10:00 <br /> I. Department Reports <br /> Rick Jopke reported that the theater project passed through the Council 4 to 1. If all goes as <br /> planned, the project should be completed by the end of the year. There are many other <br /> improvements that need to happen in the meantime, e.g. realignment of Edgewood, <br /> Comprehensive Plan amendments, rezoning etc. The wetland at the Community Center was <br /> delineated and determined to not be located in the parking lot. <br /> Mary Saarion reported that our forester, Rick Wrisky, projected a steep increase in tree disease <br /> due to the drastic ice storm we suffered this winter. The large amount of broken branches create <br /> infestation sites for disease. A large tree planting has been scheduled this month along Long <br /> Lake Rd./118.Advertising is underway for the Community Center, with the Yellow Pages etc. <br /> The operations budget for the Community Center was discussed, as the Children's Center is not <br /> pulling in the revenue that was projected originally. Chuck asked that an operations budget be <br /> prepared for Council review for the June work session, with projections of revenue generation <br /> over the next few years. Mary also reported that picnic shelter reservations are particularly high <br /> for the summer already. On May 21, Pinewood 3rd graders will be touring the facility. <br /> Patrick Toth, our cable producer, is taking a leave of absence to spend the summer teaching in <br /> Europe. He is training in Kristi and other volunteers to cover his duties in his absence. <br /> Bruce Kessel reported that the audit should be done at the end of next week. Bruce attended the <br /> Cable meeting and reported that new cable drops were being installed in the lift stations. On <br /> May 28, there will be a meeting to discuss the cable lines that will be upgraded, with new wires <br /> in the whole system. <br /> Chief Ramacher reported that DARE graduation is Tuesday. Linda Meyers is still out with a <br /> broken arm. The City has received 4 Defibrillator machines, from Medtronics and the Lions <br /> Club. There will be training held for City hall employees. The ticketing and speed monitoring <br /> effort has resulted in 5-6 tickets per day. He also reported that the Police Department had not <br /> received one speed limit or stop sign complaint in the past 30 days. <br /> Mike Ulrich reported that although Council agreed to the upgrade of the HVAC system,there is <br /> no contract in place as of yet. The earliest the system could be running is September. Mike also <br /> reported that he met with the interior designer for the Community Center. Nothing has been <br /> decided, however, as the exact amount of funds available are still uncertain. <br /> Chuck Whiting reported that the retreat is still scheduled for Monday, May 18. The topic will <br /> be "Creating Understanding" and"Credibility."Attendance is mandatory. <br /> The meeting adjourned at 12:30 PM. <br />
