7M . <br /> Item No. <br /> Type of Business: CB <br /> WK: Work Session;PH:Public Hearing; <br /> CA: Consent Agenda; CB: Council Business <br /> City of Mounds View Staff Report <br /> To: Mayor and City Council <br /> From: Cari Schmidt <br /> Item Title/Subject: New Organizational Chart- Consideration of Resolution 5257 <br /> Date of Report: August 5, 1998 <br /> As a result of an analysis of the current organizational chart, and to better reflect the current <br /> operating structure of City Hall, a new organizational chart has been constructed. The following <br /> changes are reflected in the chart: <br /> 1. Finance has relocated to the former Park and Recreation spot. As Cable is located in that <br /> space as well,the Cable Tech position has been moved from under Park and Rec to under the <br /> Finance department. <br /> 2. The new positions of the Economic Development Coordinator and the Assistant to the City <br /> Administrator are now reflected on the chart. <br /> 3. A few positions have been re-titled to better reflect the duties they are currently performing: <br /> a. The title "Department Secretary"has been updated to "Administrative Assistant." <br /> The title of Secretary is outdated and does not reflect the significant job duties that the <br /> individuals in these positions perform. <br /> b. The title of"Payroll and Utility Billing Clerk"has been changed to "Personnel Tech." <br /> This position was formerly under the Finance Department, however is now under the supervision <br /> of Administration. In light of the volume of personnel related work that is performed in this <br /> position, the title change is appropriate, as well as the switch to Administration. <br /> c. The former Administrative Secretary position has been renamed Office <br /> Communications Coordinator. When former employees left and were not replaced,many of the <br /> responsibilities of those spots fell on the Administrative Secretary. This position deals with the <br /> Employee committees, The Mounds View Matters, This Is It, Cable TV, advertisements, <br /> publication and notification or ordinances and resolutions, and telecommunications. The new <br /> title more accurately reflects the job that is being performed. <br /> The proposed organizational chart has been attached for your review. <br /> Staff Recommendation: Approve Resolution 5257 establishing the new Organizational chart for <br /> the City of Mounds View. <br /> N:\users\caris\org.mem <br />
