The League
of Minnesota Cities Insurance Trust provides insurance coverage for the city of Mounds View
and handled the investigation of this matter.
According to our investigation, the total distance from home plate to the left field fence is
approximately 305 feet. Additionally, there is approximately 40 feet from the home run fence to
the eastbound lane on County Road I. Thus, the distance from home plate to your lane of travel
was approximately 345 feet. The home run fence surrounding the outfield is 10 feet high. The
distance of this field and the height of the fence are more than adequate to reasonably keep balls
from flying onto County Road I. These distances are also well within standard measurements for
softball fields. Additionally, there has not been any history of problems with balls from this field
flying onto County Road I and causing damage to vehicles passing by.
Therefore, I fail to find any evidence of negligence on the part of the city of Mounds View for
your claimed damages, and I must respectfully decline any payment to you. Thanks for your
cooperation on this matter.
Sincerely,
Brian Horsch
Adjuster
215-4078
AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY/AFFIRMATIVE ACTION EMPLOYER
