Item No.
Staff Report No.
• Meeting Date: April 13, 1998
Type of Business: CA
WK:Work Session;PH:Public Hearing;
CA:Consent Agenda;CB:Council Business
City of Mounds View Staff Report
To: Honorable Mayor and City Council Members
From: Mary Saarion, Director of Parks, Recreation & Forestry
Item Title/Subject: Adoption of Resolution No. 5217 Arbor Day
Date of Report: March 31, 1998
One of the requirements for"Tree City USA" status is for each City to acknowledge Arbor Day
along with a planned activity or event that includes tree planting. Forester Wriskey has always taken
the time to visit with school groups and assist them with a tree planting project during the month that
Arbor Day is held. Seedlings will be planted by Pinewood School students in Greenfield Park.
Tree City USA is an important designation to uphold because many annual grants are available to
cities that follow Tree City USA requirements. The City of Mounds View has enjoyed annual grants
that provide for the replacement of trees that are removed due to disease.
• Staff requests City Council to adopt resolution no. 5217 proclaiming May 6 as Arbor Day.
•
