Discussion: A proactive consensus building strategy is important to the
development of a successful corridor plan. The consultant team will work with
the stakeholders--those persons and groups perceiving themselves to be affected--
. to ensure that they:
• understand the project scope and the process used in the development of the
plan; and
• become involved in identifying issues and in contributing suggestions to the
plan. -
The specific approach for building consensus through public participation is based
on the principle of meeting early and often with affected groups and individuals to
involve them in the development of issues and options. The consultant team will
learn about the public's perceptions of the corridor and their common concerns, •
desires and ideas for change through the use of the following techniques:
• a f 2g4-i r oas eid vaorjngTinaZ:vners Zevelopers
alr;<"" a sed{aric appa;n edcit:0 icia glEfiovM7`tTie conEta .t Zvitban-
drptx e° o'rni tia ilk-particular issuesror Ti f ortuiuties.4.tatn,ns?ttie
dao
.oz :•°..C."t•,n-;Y^T +-+y .w.,.w ... s.az!,f'';•• .:...
• One rlone- iret WIthil ilI e=-condiE ii hat IT enable=sta`icehoT ers to
discus"°'"`s.p rt cfilar d sand app oachesabou whichi`t l)y ree1ongl3
•
• One design charrette will be scheduled with community decision makers to
brainstorm and generate alternatives to the land use, environmental,
transportation and design issues.
