Public Service: Assisting and advising in routine and emergency situations. <br /> • Animal Control/Nuisance Abatement: The Community Service Officer and Officers of the <br /> Department have duties of enforcing animal control and nuisance ordinances in order to maintain the <br /> health and safety of the community. <br /> School Liaison/Youth Counseling: The Department's Investigators and Officers work closely with <br /> school officials, probation officers, human services and other agencies in promoting the health, safety <br /> and welfare of the community's youth. <br /> Emergency Services: Assisting in the coordination and planning of procedures to be used in the event <br /> of a major disaster or hazardous materials incident. Aiding the injured, providing security and <br /> coordinating support groups are responsibilities and duties for which the Department is well prepared. <br /> BUDGET IMPACT <br /> Personnel: <br /> Personnel in this program consist of the following: <br /> • Police Chief <br /> • Lieutenant <br /> • Sergeants <br /> • Patrol Officers <br /> • D.A.R.E. Officer <br /> • Investigators <br /> 411, • CSO Officer • <br /> • Department Secretaries <br /> No additional staff is anticipated for 1997. <br /> General Expenditures: <br /> Consideration should be given to upgrading our emergency/weather system with the purchase of a new <br /> siren. <br /> B. CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PLAN <br /> Capital equipment projections are included in the Capital Equipment Plan. <br /> C. CAPITAL BUDGET <br /> Funding for all capital equipment will be through the General Fund. <br /> • <br />
