• I have set a meeting with Charlie Hall to once again begin discussing strategies for the
Hotel Project. We will try to identify possible costs related to the project and plan of
attack to try and gather interest from developers. Charlie will be bringing in a consultant
who has worked on putting together hotel projects to help us develop a plan.
Cathy
PARKS, RECREATION AND FORESTRY
PARKS:
Business as usual, park maintenance activities continue to revolve around soccer, softball,
baseball, volleyball league play and picnic reservations. There are many projects that we hope to
get to when time allows this Fall including timbering Random playground equipment, work at
Woodcrest Park and many small repair jobs to park buildings and park ground equipment. This is
the time for fertilizing and seeding, so as soon as ballplayers hang up their cleats for the season,
the fields will be fed and seeded.
RECREATION:
The City Newsletters are out on the town, registration for Fall activities is underway. We are
recruiting positions including pre-school instructor, Water Safety Instructors, gymnastic
instructors, after-school instructors and Flag Football coach. All jobs have been advertised in the
papers, applications have been sent to inquiries - interviews will soon be scheduled, followed by
training sessions and program commencement.
Sharie has been out of the office - driving to Florida and back to pick up son Scott and family.
Next week she will probably be out also -to help out with sister Lisa's new baby to be born next
Tuesday. We received a call as she was traveling through Tennessee on her way home, she says
that she can hardly wait to get back to work. Guess she's a little stressed out.
Intern Margaret Burke's last day is this Friday. She has been offered a job at the Southdale
YMCA. We wish Margaret the best of luck on her new employment. She has been greatly
appreciated during her internship.
Staff has been working on decorating the entry of the Bel Rae to welcome visitors. We especially
would like the entry to be a happy, cheerful first impression for the pre-schoolers who will be
participating in dance classes at the Bel Rae. Also, we will be notifying seniors of activities that
are planned for them at the Bel Rae. It will be helpful to have the building used every day because
