The Council packet this week has been prepared by Dawn and the EDA packet by Lynette. This will
continue this way for a while as we see how much of Michele's job can be done by these
two. Both
have taken to the challenge so far. Once we get the new Finance Director on board and working for
a while, I will reevaluate this arrangement. I am also seriously considering combining the finance and
administration departments as we move towards next year's budget. I think this will place the
Finance Director more on par with other management positions and relieve me of the administrative
duties of being a department head. I don't feel I have done justice to that role here so far nor do I
see a time when I will. The Council can also expect to have me request moving the oversight of the
golf course from Parks and Recreation to the Finance and Administration department. I think our
main interest from a management level will be ensuring capable fiscal oversight of the golf course
operations. John Hanunerschmitt seems to have a firm handle on the day to day operations out there,
and Mary Saarion certainly can spend her time on other things. I will formalize these changes during
the budget proposals.
Finally, for those of you not aware of it, Bob Long did get appointed to the League board down in
Rochester last week. It will be good to continue to have Mounds View intimately represented on the
LMC board.
Have a good weekend and see you on Monday. Any questions, just call.
•
•
