The 2935
ghway 10 property is currently zoned R-3, Medium Density Residential, which allows foster care as a
permitted use. The Waldoch's have found that the current language in the Mounds View Zoning Code is
difficult to work with since the ordinance currently restricts the ages of the foster children they can provide
care to and for how long they can provide foster care to each child.
Discussion of a proposed amendment to the foster care ordinance was discussed at the May 06, 1996 City
Council work session. City Council directed Staff to work with Attorney Long to draft a code amendment
allowing up to eight foster care children per home, not including the foster family's own children.
The Planning Commission has reviewed this amendment and has recommended approval to the City Council in
Resolution No. 452-96, which is attached for your review.
Introducing this ordinance will require a roll call vote.
1- rz
Joyce Pruitt, Acting Community Development Director
COMMENDATION: Motion to waive the actual reading and consideration.of Approval/Denial of the
rmal Introduction of Ordinance No. 575. an Ordinance amending Chapter 1006, Section 1006.02, Entitled
"R-1 Single Family Residential District," pertaining to foster care facilities.
