Mn?; ff REQUEST FOR COUNCIL CONSIDERATION Agenda Section 1 6
. STAFF REPORT Report Number: 96-1699WS
I I 4:D1RM Df:: Report Date: 5/1/96
0 -1. WORKSESSION MEETING DATE .
Mess.Pacoo S‘'A'4
MAY 6, 1996
Item Description: Communication Antenna Update (APT)
Administrator's Review/Recommendation: (.s L,)
-No Comments to supplement this report X
-Comments attached. .
Explanation/Summary(attach supplement sheets as necessary)
Summary:
Staff has been negotiating a contract with APT for use of the City Water Tower for the purpose of installing
digital communication antennas. The City Attorney has reviewed the contract and approved the terms and
language. The original contract rental terms were for $6,000 per year with an annual adjustment of 3% or the
rate of the CPI (Urban). The final contract raises the annual fee to $11,000 per year with an annual adjustment
of 4%. The initial contract period is for one five year term, with an option for three additional five year
extensions. This contract does not allow for any discounted or free air time. In speaking with both companies,
they would not agree to this request, but did raise the annual rent rate.
If possible APT would respectfully request that if the contract meets with Council's approval, it could be
signed as soon as possible. They are anxious to begin scheduling and construction. Staff could make a formal
presentation at the next regular meeting.
(r,---.-
/..')/./ / f47,-/ ..11 __
Michael Ulrich, Director of Public Works
RECOMMENDATION:
III
