At the November worksession the City <br /> Council discussed the different options and alternatives available to fill the City Administrator position. <br /> Thereafter, Council authorized The Brimeyer Group, Executive Search Consultant to conduct an executive <br /> search to fill the vacancy of the City Administrator position. The Brimeyer Group met with the Council, <br /> Department Heads and community leaders to gather information and prepare a position profile. Job <br /> announcements were placed in the publications for the League of Minnesota Cities, Public Sector Job <br /> dulletin and ICMA. Approximately over 65 positive responses were received. After reviewal and <br /> iscussion of the submitted responses, The Brimeyer Group determined 12 candidates met or exceeded the <br /> qualifications for the position. <br /> At the February worksession the candidates were narrowed down to six individuals who were selected for <br /> interviews. Friday, February 23, 1996 the final candidates toured the City and municipal facilities. They also <br /> met with the Council, Department Heads, staff and community leaders. Interview's were conducted by the <br /> Council Saturday, February 25, 1996. A special meeting was held, Monday, February 26, 1996 at which the <br /> City Council and Jim Brimeyer further discussed the qualifications of each candidate. <br /> It was determined that Chuck Whiting best met and the qualifications and needs of the City. Mr. Whiting <br /> graduated from the University of Minnesota earning a Bachelor's in Urban Studies. He also has taken course <br /> work for Master's in Urban Affairs at the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee. Upon graduation, Mr. <br /> Whiting began his career as City Planner/Zoning Administration for the City of Huron, South Dakota. He <br /> then moved to be City Administrator/Clerk/Treasurer in Janesville, Minnesota. His next position was City <br /> Administrator for the City of Maine.
