CM OF • EW/ Phone: (612)784-3055 UU Fax: (612)784-3462 "Quite Simply the Best" January 3, 1997 Honorable Mayor and Council Members: The newly formed Community Center Task Force met for the first time last evening, January 2, 1997. Our agenda included brainstorming community groups and organizations that are likely to use the Community Center and identify facilities that they would most likely use. Secondly, we discussed and formulated objectives of what we thought a Community Center should be for the City of Mounds View. Because the Task Force understands the concerns that may be in the community regarding the operational costs of a community center, we identified revenue sources that would help off-set the cost of operations. Finally, after completing those thought-provoking exercises, we formulated our idea of what the mission of the Community Center should be -which is one simple statement. 411 We have prepared a small packet of our ideas and thoughts that were formulated at this first meeting. We feel that we represent many of the groups and organizations listed as potential users. Therefore, we hope that the City Council will take into consideration these ideas when decisions are made regarding the Community Center. We have completed a primary first task - formulating a philosophy, suggesting a mission, and listing objectives and possible revenue sources. We await further direction from the City Council regarding data collection, planning proposals, research, brainstorming, community input or anything else that you may need to further the work of establishing a Community Center.
