Item No: 7.F
Meeting Date: July 11, 2016
Type of Business: Council Business
Administrator Review: _____

City of Mounds View Staff Report
To: Honorable Mayor and City Council
From: Mark Beer, Finance Director
Item Title/Subject: Resolution 8610 Authorizing Installation of Network
Cable for Security Cameras at City Hall and the
Community Center

In light of heightened security concerns around city facilities, the City Council has taken
measured steps to improve security around these facilities. The City Council included funds
in the Special Projects Fund to provide security cameras for both facilities. The City also
received a grant of $2,000 from Bethlehem Baptist Church for cameras at the Community
Center.

The first step is to install cable to the various locations that will have cameras and the related
infrastructure to connect to the City’s network. Staff has been working with the City of
Roseville and its cabling contractor to design the backbone to allow for an initial installation
of cameras and for future installations. MTG has provided a quote to install and test all
connections and get the system ready so all that needs to be done is to plug in cameras.
The City Council has budgeted $40,000 for cabling and cameras in the Special Projects
Fund.

Respectfully Submitted,

____________________
Mark Beer
