Subd. 9 Accessory Dwelling Unit (Addition): <br /> <br />a. One Accessory Dwelling Unit may be located on a lot occupied by a single-family <br />home. The lot must comply with minimum dimensional standards. The Accessory <br />Dwelling Unit shall be located within an addition onto an existing single-family <br />home. <br /> Figure 2: Accessory Dwelling Unit (Exterior Addition) <br /> <br />b. The Single-Family Home or the Accessory Dwelling Unit shall be occupied by the <br />property owner. The property shall be homesteaded. <br /> <br />c. An Accessory Dwelling Unit shall have a minimum gross floor area of 300 sq ft and <br />a maximum gross floor area of 800 sq ft. <br /> <br />d. The exterior design of the Accessory Dwelling Unit shall be consistent with the <br />character of the single-family home. <br /> <br />e. A minimum of one (1) off-street parking space shall be provided for the Accessory <br />Dwelling Unit. <br /> <br />f. Accessory Dwelling Units shall be licensed as a rental dwelling, and comply with <br />Chapter 1012 (Rental Dwelling License). <br /> <br />SECTION 2. In accordance with Section 3.07 of the City Charter, City Staff shall have the <br />following summary printed in the official City newspaper in lieu of the complete <br />ordinance: <br /> <br />On August 22, 2016, the City Council adopted Ordinance 927 that amends <br />Chapters 1102; 1103; and 1106 of the Mounds View Municipal Code relating to <br />Accessory Dwelling Units as a permitted use if internal to the existing home, and <br />as a conditional use if within an addition onto a home, and within the R-1 Zoning <br />District. <br /> <br />A printed copy of the ordinance is available for inspection during regular business <br />hours at Mounds View City Hall and is available online at the City’s website <br />located at www.ci.mounds-view.mn.us. <br /> <br />
