Item No: 8E
Meeting Date: December 12, 2016
Type of Business: Consent Agenda
City of Mounds View Staff Report
To: Honorable Mayor and City Council
From: James Ericson, City Administrator
Brian Beeman, Business Development Coordinator
Item Title/Subject: Resolution 8679, a Resolution Approving an Agreement for
W eb Design, Development and Hosting Services from
Revize

Background:

The City Council provided direction to staff to create a task force of interested residents
and business representatives to assist in the review of proposals received from web
developers. Valerie Amundsen (resident) and Jessica Rieland (EDC member) volunteered
to participate in the taskforce.

Discussion:

The task force “interviewed” six of the twelve firms that submitted proposals in response to
the City’s Request for Proposals. The RFP outlined minimum City expectations and only
those firms who satisfied the expectations were interviewed. Some firms presented in
person while others were conducted online. Of the six firms who were interviewed, three
were determined suitable for further consideration. Since each of the three were well
positioned to satisfy the City’s needs and expectations, we looked at the cost and contract
duration. It was unanimously determined that Revize was found to offer the best product at
the most reasonable cost.

The task force presented its recommendation to the City Council at the December 5, 2016
Work Session. The City Council expressed appreciation for the efforts of the task force
and encouraged their ongoing participation during web design and development. The
Council directed that staff proceed with the preparation of a resolution approving the web
development contract at the December 12, 2016, Council meeting.

Recommendation:

Staff recommends approval of Resolution 8679, a resolution approving an agreement with
Revize to design, develop and host a new City of Mounds View website consistent with the
City’s RFP and in accordance with their proposal dated July 20, 2016.

Respectfully Submitted, Respectfully Submitted,

_______________________ _______________________
James Ericson Brian Beeman
